Meet the Speakers
 Dr. Mark Benn, Colorado State University. A recognized diversity trainer, he is working on his second book, Stories from the Couch, and Other Telling Tales.
Dr. David Birdsell is Dean of the School of Public Affairs at Baruch College. His work centers on the nexus of communication, media, and information technology in politics, government, and nonprofit administration.
 Ronnie Brooks is the director of the Amherst Wilder Foundation Center for Communities, where she oversees the Foundation's leadership development and stakeholder engagement programs.
H. James Dallas is Senior Vice President and CIO of Medtronic. He is responsible for leading the information technology organization and developing and implementing information technology strategies on a global basis.
Lawrence Jacobs is the Walter F. and Joan Mondale Chair for Political Studies and Director of the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance in the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota.
Jeff Johnson, Black Entertainment Television. A social activist and inspirational speaker Jeff was named one of the hip hop generation's key political players by Source Magazine.
Dr. Eric J. Jolly, President of the Science Museum of Minnesota, is known for his work with youth, families, and communities. He is the author of the recently published report: "Engagement, Capacity and Continuity: A Trilogy for Student Success."
Sean Kershaw, in 2003, Mr. Kershaw became just the sixth Citizens League president in its 50-plus-year history. He had been a member of the Citizens League Board of Directors since 1996, and co-chaired the Citizens League's 50th Anniversary report, Doing the Common Good Better.
State Representative Carlos Mariani (DFL-St. Paul) serves as chair of the House E-12 Education Policy Committee. A graduate of Macalester College, Mariani also serves as executive director of the Minnesota Minority Education Partnership. Elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1990, Mariani is one of only three Hispanic members currently serving in the Minnesota Legislature.
The Honorable Mee Moua, Minnesota Senator (DFL). She is the highest ranking Hmong American elected official in the United States and a progressive voice on immigration, education, housing, public transportation and tax policies.
Dennis Rivera, Chair of Service Employees International Union Healthcare and former President of 1199SEIU. He is a passionate voice for working families on healthcare access, economic justice, and immigration rights.
The Honorable David A. Paterson was elected New York's 74th Lieutenant Governor on November 7, 2006. Throughout a long career in public service, Lieutenant Governor Paterson has demonstrated an ability to effect change at every level and has been a strong progressive leader.
Hank Shea is a Senior Distinguished Fellow at the University of St. Thomas School of Law and a Fellow at the Holloran Center for Ethical Leadership in the Professions.
Dr. Ryan A. Smith, Associate Professor City University of New York. His expertise includes race and gender stratification at work; race and ethnic relations; and the effects of workplace diversity.
Dr. Patricia F. Walker, MD, is the Medical Director at HealthPartners Center for International Health in St. Paul, Minnesota, a nationally known refugee and immigrant health clinic. She is the Project Director for the Medtronic Foundation Regions Fellows in Cross Cultural Health Care.
Terrie M. Williams, Founder and President of The Stay Strong Foundation. She is a highly successful public relations professional, youth advocate, and author. Terrie will soon release a new book: Black Pain: It Just Looks Like We're Not Hurting.
