Nina Martinez, Esquire, Owner, Minerales de San Miguel, LLC, Secretary

Nina Martinez has over twenty-five years of experience in public service, business and law.  She is a National Urban Fellows’ board member and alumna from the class of 1988 when her mentor was Robert Morgenthau, the Manhattan district attorney.  From 1994 until 1999, Nina was Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s representative on the New York City Police, Fire and Deferred Compensation boards of directors with fiduciary responsibility for over $23 billion in public monies. During her time in New York City, Martinez was chairman of two of Mayor Giuliani’s quality-of-life task forces, which served as national and international models for urban revitalization.  Committed to educational opportunities for all people, since 2006 she has served as a board member at Menaul School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a faith-based preparatory school where ninety-eight percent of graduates attend college. Over seventy-five percent of Menaul students are Native American, Hispanic, Asian or African-American. Ms. Martinez was ordained an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque and is a Commissioner of the Presbytery of Santa Fe. An eleventh-generation New Mexican she attended the University of New Mexico, where she was a presidential scholar and honors graduate. After completing a master’s degree in public administration with high honors through the National Urban Fellows’ program, she received a juris doctorate from Rutgers Law School-Newark. Ms. Martinez began her political experience as an intern and staff assistant for United States Senator Harrison “Jack” Schmitt.  She also worked as national field coordinator for the Reagan-Bush campaign in 1984 and as legislative assistant to New Mexico Congressman Joe Skeen.  A delegate to two national conventions, she was elected state secretary and subsequently first vice-chairman of the Republican Party of New Mexico.  She is president-elect of the Metro Federated Republican Women.
