Eduardo Ramos

Eduardo Ramos has centered his career around uplifting working families. As the proud son of Oaxacan farmworkers, Manuel and Maria, Eduardo got his start in policy and politics at the age of 16 while advocating for his neighbors. He went on to campaign for local, state and federal candidates in a variety of roles, including communications management. Prior to the National Urban Fellowship (NUF), Eduardo brought his motto, “Juntos hacemos más”, to serve the people of the Portland Metropolitan Area as an advisor to the nation’s only regionally elected body at Oregon Metro. In his capacity, he worked closely with community partners and jurisdictions in transportation, housing, conservation, solid waste, economic development and other key policy areas.

Eduardo brings a solid public sector background. He has led major strategic planning efforts, including the development of a climate action plan for the City of Tigard, OR and council communications for Oregon Metro. He has worked in city management, communications and policy.

His commitment to improving lives has not been limited to his professional roles, however. In Vancouver, Washington he served three terms as chair of the Transportation and Mobility Commission. He steered the commission during a time of great transformation for Vancouver as they experienced going from a suburban community to an urban destination. Working families and assuring their place in a thriving city were the reasons he stepped up to represent. As chair, he secured endorsement of the multi-billion-dollar interstate bridge replacement, expanded the multimodal network, refined the equity index map, and guided the Transportation System Plan update. He also met with former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg to advance Vancouver’s priorities.

Eduardo has also spent time fostering youth leadership and healthier families as a board member of Latino Leadership Northwest. He previously held posts on the C-Tran Advisory Committee (transit agency) and the Equity Advisory Committee on Tolling in Oregon.

Eduardo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Portland State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He recently completed his project management certification. As a fellow, he hopes to broaden his experience beyond government to increase his impact while contributing his professional and lived experience to the program.
