Lorenzo also assisted in managing NUL’s civic engagement campaign ‘Reclaim Your Vote’ by supporting affiliates on the ground, leading text/phone banking events and engaging young voters on college campuses. He has also co-lead the development of the National Urban League’s Youth Civics Curriculum which will serve to fill the gaps of civic knowledge in underserved communities.

He has worked in the nonprofit field since graduating college and held positions in organizations dedicated to expanding opportunity and providing quality education, programming and services for the youth in the Bronx. Prior to joining the National Urban League, Lorenzo was Assistant Director of Operations at Rocking the Boat and Operations Associate for Partnership Schools.

Lorenzo graduated from College of the Holy Cross with a double major in International Studies and Spanish. As a senior, he interned at Worcester Common Ground Inc., a community development corporation where his nonprofit career began as Bio shelter Coordinator assisting with the operations and programming of a new community green space.

Leveraging his experience in youth development and success as intern coordinator at the National Urban League, Lorenzo introduced the Cristo Rey New York High School Corporate Work Study Program where high school student workers interned at the National Urban League office twice a week. Under his supervision, the student workers provided administrative support to the team and conducted research on the inequities in education, housing, health and the justice system. As an alum of Cristo Rey New York High School, a school where students work once a week, Lorenzo saw the value of the internship experience he gained as student. He sought to expose student interns to the transformational work at a legacy civil rights organization where they feel seen and empowered to make change.

Lorenzo looks forward to building on his current project management and social impact driven work while learning from leaders in diverse industries and changemakers in the field.
