Breian Brockington

Breian Brockington is a dedicated social and cultural impact professional with a rich professional background spanning a decade. Before her participation in the National Urban Fellows program, she served 5 years as the Career Development Coordinator for the International Rescue Committee. As a Career Development Coordinator, she managed multiple federal and private grants that served to provide refugees with access to adult workforce education. Chiefly, she led a team of focused career specialists tasked with crafting equitable career trajectories for recent refugee arrivals, guiding them towards industry-specific certifications and vocational training opportunities. Additionally, she successfully collaborated with department leaders to secure over $300,000 in grant funding to establish equitable career programming for refugee women. Breian has over 8 years of adult education experience. Prior to working with the refugee population, she led ESL and TOEFL classes from 2016-2018 at Iman Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in Saudi Arabia. There she facilitated lectures and formal language lessons to 300 undergraduate students.


Breian’s academic journey is marked by excellence and dedication. In 2023, she proudly graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Business Management from Grand Canyon University. Furthermore, Breian’s commitment to scholarly excellence culminated in her graduating with honors, a distinction that speaks volumes about her academic diligence and commitment to excellence. Her achievements at Grand Canyon University are not only reflected in her degree but also in her receipt of a prestigious $10,000 scholarship, underscoring her academic prowess and merit. Additionally, she was awarded an educational stipend through her service as an AmeriCorps volunteer. During her matriculation through Grand Canyon University, she exemplified extraordinary commitment, balancing both professional and academic responsibilities.

Breian’s appetite for knowledge extends beyond traditional academic settings, as evidenced by her active participation in professional conferences, where she engages with peers and thought leaders. Additionally, she cherishes moments of camaraderie, serving through the community baby shower initiative with the Northwest Community Center. However, she is not solely defined by her professional endeavors; she finds joy in attending the opera, making weekend jaunts, and practicing the culinary skills she picked on her many excursions abroad.

Breian is enthusiastic about the opportunity to continue working with the global community as a National Urban Fellow. As a student at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy, she is eager to deepen her understanding of policy development and implementation, with a focus on crafting inclusive and equitable policies that enhance programming for vulnerable communities. She aims to enhance her proficiency in strategic communication, recognizing its pivotal role in effectively conveying organizational objectives and engaging stakeholders. Moreover, Breian is enthused to participate in a mentorship program, recognizing it as a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth.
