Sagal Ali

My unwavering commitment to promoting equity, inclusion, and diversity within public health has been a constant theme in my career. It all began during my college years when I initiated a cooking class for East African women, addressing the unmet need of overcoming cultural barriers to nutrition in immigrant communities across Minnesota. As my career progressed, I broadened my impact when I assumed the role of Program Manager in Social Responsibility in 2018, leading skillsbased projects for community organizations nationwide. In 2021, I transitioned to my role as a Product Manager, playing a pivotal part in establishing a health equity task force and significantly contributing to my growth as a leader. In 2022, I was selected as a fellow for the Atlantic Health Equity Fellowship program, engaging in collaborative learning with a diverse global cohort. Since taking on my current position as a Capability Manager in 2023, I oversee Social Determinants of Health capability within care management. My experiences have solidified my dedication to creating healthier and more equitable communities. Moving forward, my career aspiration is to evolve my focus as a policy leader, actively influencing policies that uplift communities historically impacted by structural inequities.
